Warm & Fuzzy

So I decided I wanted to make the living room cozy. Before it was a hodgepodge of blah paint, paneling, and fireplace.  Great space, just not me.  Let's flashback from the walk-through:

See? Not warm and fuzzy. And I've been dying to paint the fireplace white. Saw it on a blog and thought it was a great idea and would be fantastic in my hacienda......let's look at that fireplace some more, shall we?

Wouldn't it look fantastic WHITE?!?!  I mean look at the hodge-podgeness! paneling, brick, black, gold, different shade of wood mantle....way tooooo much going on at once. WHITE! Paint it WHITE!!!

So Brad painted it while I painted the walls...then I took over on the paneling

Me painting the paneling

Bentley was helping

Finished Product!!! Doesn't it look better?!?!

So now let's look at the walls....after much deliberation we decided yeller might make it warm and fuzzy....and we were RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

Sooo Before & Afters:

So, what do you think? Improvement? I think so! Lurve, Lurve, LURRRRRRRRVE IT!!!!!

Holy Moly It's Been A While!!!

I haven't updated since September! I'm a slacker!! A LOT has been accomplished since then!  My room is officially done (Minus getting a real bed someday that will not break when you sit on the corner and try to put your socks on-definitely knows how to make you feel like a heavyweight champion- darn, flimsy Hollywood frames!!). But mooooooooooving on! Since my last post, I re-did the Guest Room, Living Room, and started my bathroom cabinet makeover in preparation of completely gutting the bathroom when I get the moolah saved up!  Should we start with the guest room??

Okay, lets remember what we started with... A lovely shade of green a la Mammaw Whaley's stairwell.

I know this room looks blue, but trust me it's green circa the 1970s, like the green in this photo:

Look how little all the kiddos are! CRAZY!

And Let's Remember my Inspiration for the Guest Room:
Happy, Happy Bird Lovin' Fabric

And my bright yellow thrift store lamp!

And I LOVED this comforter from West Elm

Which Leads to, Let the Fun Begin!!!

1. Let's pick a new wall color:

Start with a bunch of swatches...

Narrow it Down...

And, the winner is............

2.  After selecting the paint color, let the painting process begin by removing the dreaded border!!!!

See the border?

Border be GONE!

3. Start Painting!

We painted the closet doors and trim WHITE

Walls go Gray!
4. Use the fabric I ordered to make pillow cover, curtain, and bed skirt!

I removed the cover from my Pier 1 Pillow from yesteryear...

Leaving me with this....

+ New Fabric=......

Front Side

Back Side

Now time for curtains!

Curtain is done, now time to make the bedskirt!!!

I cut my fabric and used heat bond to create a hem

Bentley trying to help me get it hanging evenly

Sophie thought she would help too...

And Bentley figured if Sophie got to get on the bed, he should too
So here is the finished skirt with my duvet comforter from IKEA (it was $15 vs. $200+ from West Elm, which I just couldn't justify)
So now that we've updated the process, are you ready for the completed viewing?!?!?!?!

Not too shabby for one weekend's worth of work, eh? And yes, it was completed before my mom's arrival last November!!! Check out that fantastic $3 lamp that set the ball rolling for inspiration!!!!
