A bedroom of my very own!

So the master bedroom is definitely, as my blog's title states, "a work in progress."  My inspiration:  A picture I saw in the Kilz catalog with a Purple room, with beadboard halfway up the wall....completely drool worthy and of course, my computer is not feeling inclined to locate said inspiration picture for your viewing...grrrr.
                          Room Inspiration  (It's the 1st column, 2nd row...labeled "girl's room" hahaha)
Sooo, my goals....
                                 1) Purple walls and white trim....and silly me, realized after the fact I  chose good
ole SCHS colors...go Smoky Bears! Hahahahaha
                             +  2) New laminate flooring
+  3) Bright White Beadboard!!! (I have a sick obsession with beadboardy goodness)
One seriously happy room!!!!!!!!!

Step 1: Remove Wallpaper! I officially loathe the creator of wallpaper.....

Remember? "Before:"

Buh-bye hummingbird border!

Wallpaper be GONE!!

Step 2:  Paint the Ceiling Tiles!

Here's what it looked like before (complete with a yellowish design)

Please note the ceiling fan MATCHES the ceiling!

Brad working on painting the ceiling white

It's white! And looks a million times better!!

Step 3: Prime and Paint Walls

Ok, so this looks like an icky gray color....I swear it's purple!

See? It's purple! Technicaly, it's "Real Raisin" by Kilz

(the color from the Kilz catalog)
Step 4:  Paint the Trim

(Brad's mom, graciously agreed to help me with the painting, and I was basically fired from anything involving detail. So she was in charge of the trim/detail work and I was left with painting the middle.)

Brad's mom working on the trim work (and Cyrus helping.) Obviously, this occurred before the purpleness.

The trim is so nice and WHITE! Ahhhh! I love the cleanliness of white!

Don't the shelves actually look better?!? Ok, well once the trim is nicely finished... Now I'm leaning towards removing the closet doors for some cool curtains...

Ok, now doesn't that look nice?!?

Step 5: Rip up the Carpet!!

Naomi and I completely kicked butt and ripped out the carpet...we are women, hear us "ROAR!!!"

Look what we discovered in the closet!! Rock laminate? For real?

Step 6:  Tackling the Periwinkle Blue Closet That Mimics Pappaw Whaley's Old Truck

So, rather than using spray paint as Mammaw once did on the truck (who doesn't want a
polka-dotted  truck?), I actually thought this would be a really quick project.....I was wrong!
The closet quickly became my arch nemesis!!!!!!!  I started out with a coat of primer-

Not that this picture actually cooperates and shows you, but even after my first coat of primer, the periwinkle blue is still peeking through.

Well, One coat of primer and 4 coats of white paint later.....

 It's finally WHITE!
Up and Coming....

Williamsburg Cherry Laminate Flooring

BEADBOARD BABY!!! Thank you mom! (her gift to me!!)

Stay tuned for the laminate flooring and the beadboard installation!

Won't my bedding (already owned) look great in the purple and white room?!? Maybe someday I could afford real bedroom furniture like this!

I'm drooling over this lamp, but still hoping to find a steal at a yard sale and DIY it/them for cheap!

So imagine the lamp base + this shade from Lowe's = Pretty sweet lamp! RECAP!

Before:

After:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the progress continue!!!
